The Sencore Mighty Mite series of tube testers are the best for finding shorts or leakage in a tube, as well as the life test. I was testing the tubes I put up for sale on my Sencore TC28 (TC28 is the same tube tester as the TC162) before testing them on a Hickok for micromhos values, but stopped because it was too time consuming. Testing on a TC162 has convinced me to start doing that again since a 5Y3GT (rectifier) tested almost NOS on a Hickok, and when I tested this same 5Y3 on this and many other Sencore TC162s, TC28s, and other Sencore models, it became salient the tube was weak and out of life.

shows that same 5Y3 tested for shorts and the shorts light activated on #8 which was indicated it should do so in the test data.

All the sockets that tubes were tested in were tight and no issues. Tubes tested include 12AX7

in the other compactron socket that tested as good as NOS and no movement on the life test, and the 5Y3GT was tested as mentioned above.

shows one of the calibration steps, which is the
EMISSION CALIBRATION.
The meter is to be adjusted to the center of the meter on 60 or the center of the
?
symbol on the meter. As you can see this is set perfectly as well the rest of the calibration procedures. Nothing had to be adjusted and this is still factory calibrated which is evident by the glue on the calibration pots that would have to have been removed in order to make any adjustments.
Everything works, shorts, grid leakage, emissions, and life test.
The tube chart book is no longer glued to the inside of the cover. I removed the book and the old glue, and repainted the inside and outside of the cover as well as the bottom half. Having the tube data book not glued to the inside of the cover make it easier to use, and the cover has to be removed to test tubes. Now you can just use the book without having to keep the cover close by.
I also prefer testing sweep tubes and rectifiers on a Sencore since emissions is what you are testing and more likely to weed out a short, leakage, or a weak tube.
Easy setup and all solid state. This Sencore does not test the older style tubes so please know what tubes this can test before purchasing. The TC162 was calibrated per the calibration instructions included on the DVD that is included (no adjustments were needed).
Included is a DVD (not shown) for tube data, schematic, calibration; which needs a jig made in an octal socket, or you can buy one already made by a seller on eBay at a very reasonable price.
The Case is in OK shape. It opens and closes, but if you stuff the book in there the wrong way and it creates pressure, the lid will pop open. So make sure to look at the pictures for details.
This is a very small tube tester even compared to my TC28 which is the same tester, but the TC28 has the additional transistor test capabilities, and is in a bigger case.
I received this Sencore TC162 as a partial payment for work done on a client’s Hickok 752A. Recently several new clients from Phoenix that heard I would take certain tube testers for payment, or partial payment, for doing work on their Hickok, TV-7, and TV-10 tube testers have sought out my services, and it is a win, win situation.
I have described what this tester is and provided as many pictures possible and this Sencore TC162 cannot be returned for any reason. This TC162 is sold for Parts or Repair. I will insure the tester in shipping at my expense. Security Measures are in place that will show if this tester was tampered with in any way. If you are uncomfortable with anything stated DO NOT BUY THIS TESTER!
This TC162 is sold as is for parts or repair and is listed as is for parts or repair. Why Parts or Repair? Some scammers get away with abusing eBay's buyer protection, the age of this device and the nature of vintage electronics, potential user error, and many other things that are out of my control. So do not send me a message asking why for parts or repair? This only means you did not read this and I will not respond.
I have many years of experience working with Hickok tube testers which include working in a certified Hickok warranty repair shop where I did all the repairs under warranty, and repairing Hickok testers that were no longer under warranty. I was replacing Hickok meters in the 80s and for a small fee as a favor for customers and that time building or repairing meters was much more difficult.
I have also worked on Sencore tube testers and have always owned one for the reasons mentioned above. I have rebuilt MU140s and MU150s, and have built parts for them, but no longer do so, or want to do so. On the other hand, the Sencore Mighty Mites are easy to calibrate and the best for the reasons mentioned above.

All sales are final and this Sencore TC162 tube tester and is sold for parts or repair only due to scammers and the nature of vintage electronics that can easily be damaged by user error. I am creating my own web site to sell tube testers, and tube tester accessories such as new meters, which is cheaper than being scammed. I started the site once and will be doing so again under the name "Hickok Meters" since anyone who owns and uses a Hickok tube tester is eventually going to need a new meter. The delay is having to learn Word Press to complete the site.
If you have a legitimate problem upon receiving this tester such as the 83 rectifier was broke in shipping, which rarely happen, but can in high altitudes shipping internationally due to the vacuum and increased pressure, or something got broke in shipping, please notify me immediately. Immediately means within a few hours of receiving it not 36 hours later or 2 weeks.
The transistor function (if applicable) was not checked on this tester.
This tester is over 50 years old and should last another 50 if used and maintained properly, but if directions are not followed and someone tries to test a shorted tube e.g., any tube tester, or meter, can be destroyed in a second. I am not responsible for user error. You are expected to read the manual and understand what you are reading. You need to familiarize yourself with the tester and how it functions. Please take the time to do this since it could save you a lot of grief such as pressing the Gm button when testing a rectifier. It is an easy mistake to make and why you need to be careful when using this type of equipment. If you read the manual and use the manual while using the tester until you become experienced, you should have very few problems if any.
Also, the same tube tested on different and also calibrated testers will usually give different results on each tester. Please do not expect this tester to have the same exact results of a tube tested on another tester. If you expect that this tester will test the exact same Gm because it is also calibrated and all within specs, then are disappointed and want to return it because it tested a tube higher or lower than you expected, do not buy this tester. You are looking to buy something that does not exist and I do not have the time or money to waste on non-issues and unobtainable perfection.
I am not responsible for teaching you to use this tube tester or paying anything if you take it to someone for anything.
Thus this is not a laboratory tube tester and if you expect laboatory tube tester results from this tube tester; do no buy it. This tube tester, due to its age and the nature of vintage electoronics, is sold as is for parts or repair. If the tester is damaged in shipping do not try to use it but rather contact me and a claim will be filed with shipper and being refunded will be contingent upon whether or not the shipper honors the claim. I take pictures of packing the tester and it should not be damaged in shipping and packed extremely well with fragile labels.
