    Description

For auction is my 1962 Lotus 7. It is a replica made from a used original Arch motors chassis (the folks who built every lotus 7 and Caterham 7 frame) and either Lotus or Caterham parts. If you want an authentic and verified lotus, then this is not your car. If you want a nicely built mostly period correct car to drive and enjoy or vintage race, then this car may be of interest to you. I purchased the car five years ago from the gentleman who built it in its entirety. He is a retired professional and ex-racer of lotus & cars. He has built many 7 originals, Caterhams and other replicas. This is my fourth super 7 and has been my favorite. I have owned a VIN plated original lotus, a caterham with Cosworth engine, and a Birkin with Miata powerplant. I bought the car in July of 2016 and had it shipped to my home in Florida from the builder in Idaho. I retired last year and moved to the beautiful mountains of western North Carolina. I had a collection of lotus cars and Porsches, as well as a garage full of motorcycles that needed to be reduced. This is that last car in my collection to go. I simply do not have the room for the collection, nor do I drive this car enough. It has been stored correctly with fuel stabilizer, etc but really needs to be driven. The car is registered and has a clean clear Florida title in my name. The title lists it as a 1962 lotus 7. I will do my best to describe the build of the car and what parts were used.
The frame is a Arch motors chassis of series 2 vintage. The engine is a Ford 1600 non-crossflow with a Cosworth A3 grind cam, with Webers. It has new followers, rocker arms, head studs from ARP. It has JE pistons and Pertronix electronic ignition. The transmission is a Quaife 4-speed and a Morris marina rear axle was used. There is a large capacity aluminum Caterham radiator and the car runs cool. The steering wheel and gauges are period and are operational, except for the speedometer, which has not been connected. The steel wheels were from a lotus elan, as is the spare tire. The car has a Caterham acrylic race style driver side windscreen included. That item is new in a box and I never mounted it. The full screen is currently in place and has a heating element. There is full weather gear including doors from Caterham included in the sale. The builder used a modern, non-period correct carbon fiber exhaust canister that I removed the day the car was delivered. I have not replaced it with a period correct muffler as I just haven’t had time to play with this car. I will include the modern exhaust with the car. I have just been driving the car around my block with the open header. The neighbors know me as a nice guy with a bad car and bike addiction, so they are used to a bit of noise on our street from time to time. Lol. I put a new battery in last year and she has a trickle charge pigtail so she is always charged and ready to go. I keep her covered on skates tucked away in the corner of my now much smaller garage. The car starts easily even after sitting and will sit into a nice idle while warm It has all new suspension components and the bodywork is from Caterham. The shocks are Spax all the way around.
The car is built with nothing but new Lotus or Caterham parts. It is period correct and is a great driver that can be refined and made into a very nice driver or transformed into a vintage racer. The engine is newly built when I purchased the car (I have only driven around the block). It starts easily and idles well. The steering is tight and precise, the brakes are great and the car is very stable. The interior and gauges are correct and period Smiths. The lights, turn signals, and all electronics work great. I have a wiper motor and arm that I have never mounted but will include in the sale. The weather gear is new and included as well. The photos were unfortunately taken inside the garage due to days of bad weather here. I apologize for them being indoors but if you would like additional photos, I will do my best to provide.
I am a retired professional and value integrity and honesty. My ebay profile is over 20 years old and I have bought and sold many high end cars and bikes over the years. I can take more photos and answer any questions that you may have. I am traveling a bit so it may take me a day or two to get back to you, but I will do my best to be timely and answer your questions honestly. Thanks for taking the time to look at what is one of my favorite cars of all time. I appreciate your interest.
